The Auckland Hearts have beaten Northern Districts by seven wickets at Mount Maunganui, on the opening day of the women's one-day cricket competition, the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield

The Central Hinds beat the Wellington Blaze by 41 runs in Wellington, with Ocean Bartlett collecting a six-wicket bag.

Canterbury veteran Frankie Mackay became New Zealand's leading domestic run-scorer in the men's or women's game, even though she only scored seven... but that was enough to take her to 5152 runs, surpassing Amy Satterthwaite's 5147.

Otago won by 170 runs in Rangiora, however.

All teams will go up against each other again for round two tomorrow.
