There's a warning for Bay of Islands locals to be on alert for any measles symptoms after a confirmed case in the area

The case is likely linked to overseas travel and they are no longer infectious.

Public health authorities are still identifying close contacts and possible exposure locations.

Dr. Susan Jack from the National Public Health Service is urging locals to the Bay of Islands to look out for symptoms, stay home and seek medical advice if unwell.

Symptoms include a high fever, runny nose, sore red eyes and a rash.
