A man who reportedly attempted to flee Police after an antisocial road user gathering in Gisborne - has been arrested

A man who reportedly attempted to flee Police after an antisocial road user gathering in Gisborne - has been arrested

Members of the public notified Police of dozens of vehicles carrying out antisocial activity on the corner of Whatatutu and Matawai roads.

The group dispersed when Police arrived - but one car drove away in a dangerous manner after being signalled at to stop.

The driver was then seen escaping on-foot, allowing Police to impound the car - and the man was later arrested.

The 20-year old will appear in the Gisborne District Court on Monday with multiple charges.
