Torrential downpours in parts of Northland overnight have seen residents wake up to floodwaters

Torrential downpours in parts of Northland overnight have seen residents wake up to floodwaters

Metservice says more than 100-millimetres of rain has fallen in some places overnight, and an orange heavy rain warning's in place in Eastern and Central northland.

Peter Brown, who owns the Gallery and Cafe Helena Bay says he was expecting about 10-millimetres.

He says they woke up to a full rain gauge.

Brown says Helena Bay and Teal Bay are flooded, while there's a bridge out at Ngaiotonga.
