Illegal street racing and anti-social behaviour across Hawkes Bay last night met a speedy response from Police,

Six vehicles have been impounded, and numerous others have been ordered off the road as defective or unsafe.

Three people were also processed for drunken driving.

Police are now tracking down more offending vehicles and drivers.

Senior Sergeant Craig Ellison says offenders are often surprised when Police later arrive on their doorstep to take their vehicles, because they think they've got away with it.

Anyone with more information's asked to call Police on 10-5.
