Police in Hawke's Bay will be temporarily carrying guns after a shooting incident at 12:30 this  morning

Police in Hawke's Bay will be temporarily carrying guns after a shooting incident at 12:30 this morning

Shots were fired from a vehicle as it drove up to a bar in the West Quay area in Napier.

One person sustained injuries to their hand while another received a groin injury.

They both got medical treatment for moderate to serious injuries, and one remains in hospital in a stable condition.

It's believed the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation between rival gangs in the area.

Police are still investigating the shooting and are reviewing CCTV footage.
