    Firefighters are battling a house fire near the rural village Tutira near Napier this morning


    Six fire trucks and two water tankers were called to Matahorua Road north of Napier at about 8.54am.

    Emergency teams were called to a tree fire but found the house ablaze on arrival

    Vegetation surrounding the home and strong winds fanning the flames were an issue.

    Matahorua Road has been closed since 10am and is expected to reopen by noon.

    No injuries have been reported.
