    Kiwi running prodigy Sam Ruthe has comfortably won the national schools 1500 metres title in Hastings


    He yesterday obliterated the national record by more than eight seconds.

    Earlier this morning, the 16-year-old smashed the national secondary schools previous best for the 800 metres to win that title.

    Ruthe's bettered the record set by Brad Mathis in 2011 by 3.6 seconds.
