State Highway 2 north of Eskdale and Napier has reopened overnight after a fatal crash yesterday morning

State Highway 2 north of Eskdale and Napier has reopened overnight after a fatal crash yesterday morning

Police say the sole occupant of a car died, when it plunged off a bank on a notorious stretch north of Tangoio Settlement Road.

It brings the summer holiday road toll to two - after a man struck by a car in Napier on Boxing Day, died in hospital on Monday.

Police are investigating that crash and want to hear from any witnesses.
