A dark day for Nelson, as it comes to terms with a Police officer being killed on the job

A dark day for Nelson, as it comes to terms with a Police officer being killed on the job

Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming died following an incident at Nelson's Buxton Square Carpark early yesterday morning.

Another officer is now in a stable condition, a third officer has been concussed, and two members of the public are also injured.

Newstalk ZB's Katrina Bennett says, the city's never ever dealt with a situation like this.

She says she was born and raised in Nelson, and went to Nelson College for Girls where Fleming was a netball coach.

Bennett says everyone she's been speaking to finds this situation unthinkable.
