Two people have been injured - one moderately - in a truck and car crash near Timaru

Emergency services were called to State Highway 1, the Hilton Highway, at Washdyke, just after 5am.

Hato Hone St John says two patients were transported to Timaru Hospital via ambulance - one with moderate injuries, and the other minor.

The highway remains closed, with diversions in place, between Blair Street and Old North Road.
