Three people died in the collision on State Highway 79, between a four-wheel-drive and a people-mover.
They skiers were travelling in convoy with other team members.
One victim's parents say they're collecting information, and considering the possibility 400 kilograms of gear in the vehicle could have caused a secondary impact.
Police are unable to comment while they investigate.
