Fonterra's forecast Farmgate Milk Price midpoint for the 2023/24 season, has been lifted by 25 cents.
It's on the back of an 85 percent rise in profit for the country's largest company, to 392-million dollars in the first quarter of the financial year.
Lincoln University adjunct professor Jacqueline Rowarth says the economy is still unpredictable, but it's a positive change for the rural sector.
She says the sector is in better shape than it was, and are feeling positive ahead of the rest of the season.
