    A fifth-place for cyclist Dion Smith on the opening stage of the Volta a Catalunya in Spain


    The Team Bike Exchange rider has headed home the peloton, just 16 seconds behind Danish winner Andreas Kron who outsprinted the rest of a four-man breakaway.

    Compatriot George Bennett was given the same time as Smith after also finishing in the peloton, but is back in 75th.
