Just two kiwis have been named on the provisional start list for cycling's Giro d'Italia

George Bennett has been named to lead the Jumbo Visma team while Patrick Bevin has been included in the Israel Start Up Nation team for the first grand tour of the year.

Bevin was the best of the kiwis overnight in the opening four kilometre individual time trial prologue at the Tour de Romandie in Switzerland.

Bevin finished 16th- just 18 seconds down on former world champion Rohan Dennis whose Ineos Grenadiers team took a clean sweep on the podium, with Geraint Thomas second and Richie Porte third.

Fellow kiwis Dion Smith and Sam Bewley finished 42 and 50 seconds down respectively.
