A fundraising appeal has been launched to return the remains of a Brazilian motorcyclist to his family

Andre Fernandes died in a crash at the intersection of Riccarton Road and Hansons Lane in Christchurch last week.

A Givealittle page has raised more than 12-thousand dollars so his partner - Nicola - can return him home to Sao Paolo.

Friends say all those who knew Fernandes - even briefly - loved him instantly.

The Police investigation into the crash is continuing.
