Sir Bob Parker is digging deep -- as he battles for his health

Sir Bob Parker is digging deep -- as he battles for his health

The former Christchurch Mayor is in a hospital care facility after suffering a heart attack in May, and a stroke in October.

The 68-year-old was put into intensive care in October, and spent 11 days in a critical condition.

He's now undergoing therapy, and longtime friend Bert Govan says Sir Bob's resilience shows.

He says Parker's always been a positive person and a great communicator -- and now he's digging deep into those characteristics, as he faces his current health challenges.

The Parkers have appreciated messages of support from family and friends -- but have requested privacy.
