Former Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull has died at 71 after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Current Mayor Aaron Hawkins says Cull brought a strategic focus to Council.

But he stepped down in 2019 to spend more time with family - which Hawkins says has been cruelly cut far too soon.
