There's concern faceless bureaucrats will end up running Auckland's water services

There's concern faceless bureaucrats will end up running Auckland's water services

The Government's announced a two-point-five billion dollar package in return for councils handing over their water assets.

Auckland Mayor, Phil Goff, says there's a lot that's good in the Government's model, but there are some flaws.

He says the new authority that will control 28 percent of the council's assets, won't be accountable to those who built up those assets, through their water rates.
