Major changes are in store for the future of Wellington's transport infrastructure

The Let's Get Wellington Moving plans are officially being scrapped, following an agreement between central government and the Wellington City Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.

Chris Luxon says each of the three entities now have new responsibilities, starting with their plans for a new Mt Victoria tunnel and Basin Reserve upgrade.

He says the regional council needs to focus on improving public transport, while the city council concentrates on its Golden Mile Project.

Luxon says this is a very pragmatic outcome.
