The Far North District Council will work on improving safety where two young boys died in an off-road accident

The Far North District Council will work on improving safety where two young boys died in an off-road accident

A four-year-old from Auckland and a six-year-old from Perth were killed on Fern Flat Road in Peria, while holidaying at their grandmother's farm.

They were two of six people on a Utility Terrain Vehicle when it hit a boulder, careering the vehicle into an 11-metre deep water hole at Waikainga Stream.

Far North Mayor Moko Tepania says they'll help Police and other agencies, as they determine exactly what happened.

He says roading staff will take direction on any immediate measures Police feel are required to ensure that Fern Flat Road is safe.
