Stats NZ data shows Kiwis didn't go parched ... and had full stomachs ... in December

Stats NZ data shows Kiwis didn't go parched ... and had full stomachs ... in December

Figures show retail spending fell 0.8 per cent in December, after Black Friday and Singles' Day boosted November spending by 2.8 per cent.

But retail statistics manager Sue Chapman says hospitality - and grocery and liquor sales - were the only areas that held their own.

She says durable goods, such as furniture, hardware, appliances, and sports and recreational goods had the biggest drop in December after a strong November.
