The end of the road for a 242-year-old giant of British retailing

The end of the road for a 242-year-old giant of British retailing

Debenhams has announced it will start liquidating its business after a potential buyer of the company pulled out.

It's a move that looks like it will cost 12-thousand jobs.

Administrators have decided to start winding down operations while continuing to seek offers "for all or parts of the business".

Debenhams will continue to trade through its 124 UK stores and online to clear its current and contracted stocks.
