No clear answer over how long the tourism industry will be affected by staff shortages

No clear answer over how long the tourism industry will be affected by staff shortages

Hotels are facing what they call a 'dire' staff shortage, with some offering guests vouchers and discounts to service their own rooms.

The rest of the tourism industry has similar problems as the borders reopen after two years.

Tourism Industry Aotearoa chief executive Rebecca Ingram says they're not sure how many people are coming to New Zealand this summer.

She says they expect it to take two to three years for tourism to find its new normal.
