Women are facing a massive shortfall in retirement savings

Kiwisaver advisers National Capital has found the gap between men and women's Kiwisaver totals, is approaching 61-billion dollars.

Financial Advisor Ilma Mani says part of the problem is salary discrepancy between men and women.

She says another factor is women's more conservative investing strategy.

Mani says women can do things to shrink the gap themselves.

She says they can talk to a financial advisor and pick a more growth orientated fund.
