The Emergency Management Minister says officials are being cautious about today's weather bomb

The Emergency Management Minister says officials are being cautious about today's weather bomb

Tairawhiti sits under a heavy rain watch - but thunderstorm watches have lifted for Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taupo, Rotorua and Tairawhiti.

Streams are subsiding after some in Ngongotaha self-evacuated this morning.

Torrential lashed Auckland last night - and a number of roads flooded in Christchurch.

Minister Mark Mitchell says there's a lot of planning, as the country keeps getting hit with these weather events.

He says there are no plans for local states of emergency - and everyone feels well prepared.
