    Hundreds could lose jobs at Spark - as it feels the bite of the slowing economy


    It's announced it wants to save 50 million dollars- by trimming 10 percent of the workforce trimmed.

    Spark's 1.1 billion-dollar net-profit last year has fallen 72 percent this year, to 316 million dollars.

    Herald technology editor Chris Keall says last year's big number included a big one-off earning, when it sold sold 70 percent of its cell tower network.
