Genesis Energy's bought a consented Canterbury solar farm, expected to generate 67 megawatts from 2027

Genesis Energy's bought a consented Canterbury solar farm, expected to generate 67 megawatts from 2027

The 111-hectare site near Leeston is the electricity company's fourth solar development.

It's projected to cost around 110-million dollars, incorporating 74-thousand panels.

The site's been leased from a farmer, with grazing under the panels expected to continue once the farm's operational.

Locals petitioned against it last year -- but only eight people submitted against, as the limited notified resource consent only allowed those directly impacted to give feedback.
