The construction industry appears to have hit a lull - despite dramatic cost surges over the past ten years

The construction industry appears to have hit a lull - despite dramatic cost surges over the past ten years

Data from construction-cost platform QV CostBuilder reveals New Zealand's residential construction costs have risen around 61-percent since 2015.

It shows building-cost inflation has run at almost double the pace of general inflation over the same period.

QV CostBuilder Quantity Surveyor Martin Bisset says the industry's been in high demand post-pandemic, but this has settled down now.

He says now's actually a very good time to build - as material costs have steadied and interest rates are low.
