Winter grazing regulations will be deferred until May next year - as the Government works with farmers to tighten up practices

Winter grazing regulations will be deferred until May next year - as the Government works with farmers to tighten up practices

It comes after the sector agreed to make immediate improvements for the coming season.

Environment Minister David Parker says if done poorly - intensive winter grazing can have serious negative effects on animal welfare and freshwater health.

The one year deferment will see a farm module developed, tested and formally rolled out into wider freshwater plans in 2022.

Rules preventing the expansion of grazing still apply. 03-16-21 1818
