World Rugby has promised to "supercharge the women's game" with a new annual 15s competition starting in 2023, and played in the three non-World Cup years out of every four

The aim is to raise competitiveness towards an expanded 16-team World Cup in 2025.

Supported by an initial 12.3 million dollar governing body investment, it'll be hosted within a new September-October global window.

Teams qualify annually, courtesy of their finishing positions within annual regional competitions, such as the Six Nations - those must be completed by June each year.
