The service industries have pushed up Gross Domestic Product figures

The service industries have pushed up Gross Domestic Product figures

Stats NZ has announced a 2.8 percent GDP rise for the June quarter, much higher than many economists expected.

Retail trade and accommodation was the largest contributor to growth, driven by activity in accommodation and food services.

Primary and goods-producing industries also played a part.

The transport, postal, and warehousing industry was boosted by rises in air transport and transport support services but it's still below pre-Covid levels.

Business services also contributed, rising by 4.8 percent.
