Donald Trump's 25-percent tariffs on steel and aluminium imports have taken effect overnight

Donald Trump's 25-percent tariffs on steel and aluminium imports have taken effect overnight

The EU and Canada have responded with retaliatory measures.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says including Australia in the tariffs is "entirely unjustified" and goes against "the spirit of the two nations' enduring friendship".

He says no nation has received a carve-out from Trump's tariff plan.

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer says the UK is keeping all options on the table, but is pushing for a trade deal.
