Christchurch City Council has modelled what a Government-imposed rates cap could mean for the city

Christchurch City Council has modelled what a Government-imposed rates cap could mean for the city

Ministers are proposing to limit annual rates rises to between two and four percent.

Councillors were briefed yesterday on the early findings.

A four-percent cap from 2027 would force the council to find 28-million dollars in savings, climbing to more than 122-million by 2033.

The modelling shows there would be a larger funding shortfall with a two percent cap. .
