Martin Guptill is offering his perspective on the evolution of franchise cricket after featuring in the New Year honours list for services to the sport

The former New Zealand opening batter played 367 times for the Black Caps across all formats and has been named a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

Guptill says cricket AND player priorities have changed.

He's remained coy on a mooted franchise competition in New Zealand - which has caused consternation in certain quarters.
