Ben Shelton's determined to close the tennis gap to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz this year

Ben Shelton's determined to close the tennis gap to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz this year

The 23-year-old is the ASB Classic's top seed - looking to win a maiden Auckland title on his fourth attempt.

Shelton beat Sinner in their first meeting in 2023, but the Italian has won the next eight matches without dropping a set.

The American has lost all three of his matches against Alcaraz.

What does he need to do for a sniff?

Shelton has his first match starting at 11.30am against Francisco Comesana .

Second seed Casper Ruud and fifth seed Cam Norrie will also feature on centre court at separate times today.
