To the perilous NFL coaching desk..

Buffalo have sacked coach Sean McDermott after nine years in charge.

The Bills bowed out of the play-offs on Sunday to the Denver Broncos.

McDermott is the ninth NFL coach dismissed this season, while Mike Tomlin was given a more gracious "stepping down" exit after a 19-year tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Meanwhile, the latest Super Bowl band appointment has been revealed.

Green Day are set to perform at the NFL showpiece's opening ceremony on February 9, New Zealand time.

The band will play a medley of hits during a past players parade in Santa Clara, California on a day which will provide a Boulevard Of Broken Dreams for one team.

Elsewhere, singer Charlie Puth will belt out the US national anthem and rapper Bad Bunny will hop onto stage at halftime.
