A storming start to the latest race of the Nascar season for Shane van Gisbergen

A storming start to the latest race of the Nascar season for Shane van Gisbergen

After starting 13th - he charged through the field to be second at the 20-lap mark, representing the end of the first stage of the 95-lap race.

Van Gisbergen - who's chasing a record-equalling sixth straight road-course victory in the Cup Series - then made his opening pit stop and returned to track outside the top 10, but is back up into eighth after 32 laps.

Meanwhile - Scott McLaughlin's finished second in the opening race of the new IndyCar season in Florida.

He sums summed up his day - after starting from pole.

2025 series champion Alex Palou has started his title defence with a first-up victory.
