Mitchell scored in the 20th minute but also went to the sin bin in the second half for getting involved in scuffle with Brisbane's Jordan Riki.
Meanwhile the Canberra Raiders have crashed to their third straight home defeat, getting trounced 34-16 by the Cowboys.
