    She may be on a stationary bike, but esports cyclist Kate McCarthy is going places with back-to-back world titles


    For the first time in esports history, rivals were brought together at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi, rather than racing each remotely on a screen.

    The 30-year-old from Hamilton dominated her competition, winning two of three stages...leaving McCarthy tired but happy.



    The three stages included Mountain's Verdict, a punishing uphill climb, followed by Puncher's Playground, a course race combining sprint and climb segments, and concluded with Sprinter's Paradise, an eight-lap battle around a fast 1.5 kilometre criterium circuit.
