The architect behind one of the great modern era moments in New Zealand cricket has retired

The architect behind one of the great modern era moments in New Zealand cricket has retired

That was Doug Bracewell bowling Nathan Lyon at Hobart in December 2011 for a seven-run victory, the last time the country won a test in Australia.

Commentator Ian Smith marked the occasion.

Bracewell described returning figures of six for 40 to wrap up the second of his 28 tests.

The 35-year-old has exited the game after failing to overcome a rib injury.
