The mayor of the country's biggest city doesn't believe the changes proposed for the country's water operations, would work for Auckland

The mayor of the country's biggest city doesn't believe the changes proposed for the country's water operations, would work for Auckland

Auckland Council members sit down with Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta today.

She's proposing a single water company for Auckland and Northland.

It comes with a promise to increase investment in infrastructure, improve services and save households from ballooning water bills.

But mayor Phil Goff says the proposed one-size-fits-all model the Government's proposing wouldn't suit Auckland.

In a letter he sent Mahuta earlier this week, Goff says Auckland's supply already contains many of the features the Government's proposing.
