From the city bar, to the council boardroom

Prominent hospitality owner Matt McLaughlin has confirmed to Newstalk ZB, he's making a bid for a seat on Wellington City Council.

He'll run for the Onslow-Western Ward at this year's local elections.

The owner of Panhead, Moustache and Gasworks bars says if he wins, he won't be hanging up the bar cloth completely.

He says he'll continue to operate his hospitality businesses as he believes he can wear two hats.

Employment lawyer Peter Cullen and former Wellington Airport chairman Tim Brown are also considering standing for council.
