A Government lifeline for businesses hit by ram raiders will likely be revealed next week

A Government lifeline for businesses hit by ram raiders will likely be revealed next week

Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson says Cabinet discussed the issue today - and cash is expected to come from the proceeds of crime fund.

Raids have ramped up in recent weeks - in frequency and size - and a stolen digger rammed a Wainuiomata BP overnight.

Robertson says Police have already been working with people on the ground.

He says the Government wants to announce a programme that can be enacted quickly - and delivers the protection needed.
