The Government is being urged to move as fast as it can on pay transparency

The Government is being urged to move as fast as it can on pay transparency

The Fair Pay Agreements Bill was introduced into Parliament in March this year, passing its first reading.

The Education and Workforce Select Committee will report back to the House in October, with plans to have it enforced by the end of this year.

Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner Saunoamaali'i Karanina Sumeo says the gender pay gap is about 9.4 percent, but it's worse for our most vulnerable.

She says Pasifika people earn the lowest when comparing ethnic groups, with the gap around 27 percent.
