Tauranga's MP says the Marine Precinct sale is a bad deal for residents

Tauranga's MP says the Marine Precinct sale is a bad deal for residents

Tauranga's Commissioners sold the precinct to a developer for four million dollars below valuation.

The deal also puts council on the hook to fund up to 29-million-dollars to develop a wharf.

Locally-based ACT MP Cameron Luxton's asked the Auditor-General to investigate -- so has MP for Tauranga, Sam Uffindell.

Uffindell says ratepayers and people in council have real concerns about the deal.

He says it looks like a sweet deal for a developer, at the expense of the people of Tauranga.
