A third New Zealand medical school, at Waikato University, is looking more likely to proceed

A third New Zealand medical school, at Waikato University, is looking more likely to proceed

The Otago Daily Times is reporting details from an internal government document, claiming Cabinet will receive a final paper by Thursday and make its decision on April 7.

It says ministerial staff have held workshops with Health New Zealand and Waikato University to prepare for the next phase of work, pending Cabinet's agreement to proceed.

It says relevant ministers will be provided draft talking points and media releases next week.

Act has been pushing for a full cost-benefit analysis of a third school, as part of its coalition agreement with National.
