Consultation has started on a new school sex education framework

Consultation has started on a new school sex education framework

The Government's rewriting the Relationships and Sexuality Education Curriculum for the first time in nearly 20 years.

NZ First leader Winston Peters called previous guidelines "woke" and "out of touch".

The draft has been developed by experts and focuses on consent - with little mention of gender.

It's also informed by sex-education in countries like Australia, England and Singapore.

    Consultation's open until May 9.
