Some New Zealand vehicle owners are set to receive a share of 10.9-million dollars following a settlement with manufacturer Hino

Some New Zealand vehicle owners are set to receive a share of 10.9-million dollars following a settlement with manufacturer Hino

Hino publicly admitted in 2022 it had falsified fuel efficiency and emissions trading data, to secure vehicle certification in Japan.

However it denies claimant allegations - including that it failed to meet its obligations under New Zealand consumer laws.

Shine Lawyers NZ Solicitor Heidi Gwynne says the settlement provides certainty for compensation, despite no admission of liability.

Eligible class members will be contacted with further information.
