A long road lies ahead in fixing New Zealand's problematic child agency

A long road lies ahead in fixing New Zealand's problematic child agency

The Government has announced a huge overhaul of Oranga Tamariki.

It's off the back of a scathing review finding it to be a weak, disconnected and an unfit agency.

Association of Social Workers Chief Executive Braden Clark says it's a societal problem and all aspects of the Government have failed.

He says there's a failing mental health system, huge levels of poverty - and all these factors are at play.

Clark says it could be a long time before a solution is found.
